  1. I too had the same problem in WinXp where i use to get the same above message and even could not open any registry mechanic or change registry entries and pc too had become too slow.
    Your Pc might be infected by Trojan or spyware
    I then downloaded Spyware terminator and scanned it My problem got solved the pc fuctioned perfectly and I could open the task manager.
    Hope this method might solve ur problems too.

  3. Type Gpedit.msc in run
    Go to user configuration and expand administrative templates->system
    select Alt+Ctrl+Del options
    From the right hand pane double click on Remove Task Manager -> change it to not defined

  4. I tried that too but Gpedit.msc cannot be found

  5. i tried that n it worked but when i click ctrl+alt+del the task manager screen doesnt stay it closes fast in a blink of an eye…..how come? whats wrong?

    i too got the same prob tat the screen will blink n go off within
    a second…

    i also tried with many updated anti-virus wares…yet no use…

    re-installing the os solved me the prob…

    go to “run” and type “regedit.exe” then follow these steps:-

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System

    DELETE THE CODE SAYING “DISABLE TASK MANAGER”
    enjoy!!

  8. Try download RRT.exe and that can restore back your taskmanager and regedit

  9. i had this happen to me and this is what worked, it was so easy!! thank goodness!!

    all i did was clicked start and went to run, i then entered:

    REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

    and hit OK, it was automatically fixed!!!

  10. To fix this problem, run regedit and find the key –>
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System

    then turn the value of “disable task manager” to 0
    !!
    Problem is solved!
