DLL OR Dynamic Link Library files comprise codes and executable functions that are dynamically called on by your Windows operating system and installed applications to perform specific operations.


Windows operating systems are shipped with several DLL files and many more are installed when you start installing new programs and tools on your computer. With so many DLL files on your system, the chances of DLL errors are quite high. There are many causes of DLL errors. Some of the most common causes are listed below.


  • A shared DLL being used by one or more applications on the system is deleted when an application is uninstalled.
  • A newer DLL version is overwritten by an older DLL file, when an application is installed.
  • A hardware component or its driver using the DLL generating errors on your system malfunctions.
  • The DLL being used is damaged or corrupt.
  • Damaged system registry or incorrect DLL entries in the registry.
  • Malware infections.
