Want a faster Windows shutdown without installing any softwares? Then Lifehacker reader, Eric suggest you use the run dialog. It will immediately forces any open applications to close without warning prior to Windows shutting down.
Note: Another LifeHacker reader, LinuxMatt advice against using -f, you can read about it in the Comments.
According to Jim Eshelman, “Unfortunately — especially on Windows XP — this option only shuts down Windows. It does not shut down your computer, at least on most hardware. ”
Jim sugested using Shutdown.exe instead.
