Prevent wallpaper from being changed

Don’t you hate it when people starts changing your desktop wallpaper? I hope this tip will be useful for pc users.

All you need to do is configure the Group Policy Editor.

Start –> Run and type gpedit.msc . In Group Policy Editor, go to
Local Computer Policy –> User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Control Panel –> Display

Choose Prevent changing wallpaper..

Choose Enable—Apply—OK. That should do the trick. 😉

  1. gpedit.msc cannot be found. What do I do?

  2. @ pratclif: FYI Windows XP Home doesn’t have gpedit.msc since it has no use for it. The tool is only available in XP Pro only. You can try and download the file from here:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/results.aspx?pocId=&freetext=gpedit.msc&DisplayLang=en
but I can’t guarantee that it will work if you just pop it into your C:\Windows\System32 folder.
Not much help to you I guess. Good luck anyway. 😀
