Discovering Bots on your PC

Bots are basically malwares that take over the control of infected computers. Infected computers are often used to collect data such as credit card numbers, passwords, telephone numbers and etc. Worse than that, infected computers could be used to execute DoS (denial of service ), phishing or sending out spams!

What are telltales signs that your PC is infected? If your PC is extremely slow when you are surfing the Net, it could be that bots are using your PC to send and/or receiving data.

If that’s the case, to be sure stop surfing, close any email applications that you have opened, run Task Manager, click on the Network tab. If it shows a few percentage of activity, then your PC is most probably infected.

You can download RUBotted from Trend Micro or BOT Hunter. Both are free.
